Retiheterocolpites tertiarius

Taxonomy
Retiheterocolpites tertiarius was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-57-598 (Catatumbo) Loc: 48.3X124.8 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. It is the type species of Retiheterocolpites.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain heterocolpate, prolate-subprolate; furrow C α 2, C β 2-3, C γ 1; P α 1b, P β 1, P γ 1; sculpture type reticulate-foveolate (diameter of lumina 1.2 μ). Muri simplibaculate. Reticulum more prominent towards the poles. Thickness of exine 2.5μ; ectixine thicker than endexine. Wall semitectate. Furrows with costar colpi and sometimes a margo. Polar area 7μ.
