Taxonomy
Gemmamonocolpites ovatus was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-49-578 (Catatumbo). Loc: 42.5X120.5 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain monocolpate, spheroidal to oval; furrow C α 1, C β 1, C γ 1; sculpture type gemmate. Gemmae sparse or in groups, 1.6-3.2 μ in diameter. Grain probably tectate. Thickness of exine about 2 μ ectexine thicker than endexine.
