Triton (Lampusia) rubecula occidentale was named by Mörch (1877). It is extant.

It was recombined as Cymatium (Septa) rubeculum occidentale by Clench and Turner (1957); it was recombined as Cymatium rubeculum occidentale by Nowell-Usticke (1959); it was recombined as Cymatium (Septa) occidentale by Beu (1985); it was recombined as Cymatium occidentale by Leal (1991); it was recombined as Septa occidentalis by Beu (2010).
