Taxonomy
Lepidoproetus (Lepidoproetus) splendens was named by Johnson and Fortey (2012). Its type specimen is NHM It 28956, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 10 m., Section 1, Jbel Oufatene, which is in a Pragian carbonate limestone in the Ihandar Formation of Morocco.

Fortey 2012Deeply concave anterior border with a thick upturned anterior edge, concave lateral borders with extensive sub-parallel ridging along the margins and on the genal spines. Glabella sub-cylindrical with sculpture of pronounced crescent shaped ridges (Fig. 6.16) on occipital ring and on the thoracic axial rings. Long axial spines on last five thoracic segments.
