Taxonomy
Notobrachyops picketti was named by Cosgriff (1973). Its type specimen is NSWGS F8258, a skull, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Hurstville Brick Co quarry, Mortdale, which is in an Anisian coastal shale in the Ashfield Shale Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Notobrachyops.
