Gemmastephanoporites polymorphus was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-57-598 (Catatumbo). Loc: 44X114.7 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain stephanoporate, equatorial limb approximately circular; pore P α 1b-3b, P β 1, P γ 2; sculpture gemmate (diameter of the elements about 2.7 μ). Columellae ('granulae') distinct and arranged in a micro-reticulate pattern (diameter of lumina < 0.5 μ). Thickness of exine 2 μ; ectexine thicker than endexine. Muri simplibaculate and grain probably semitectate.
