Taxonomy
Ericipites annulatus was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-96-579 (Catatumbo) Loc: 36.7X125.7 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. It is the type species of Ericipites.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Pollen grain in tetrads; individual grains tricolporate. Furrow C α 2, C β 1, C γ 1-2; pore P α 3, P β 3, P γ 2; sculpture type psilate. Thickness of exine about 2 μ. Ectexine about as thick as endexine. Sometimes the pores show a vestibulum-like structure. Wall tectate.
