Echinoidites problematicus was named by González-Guzmán (1967). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-III-49-578 (Catatumbo). Loc: 115.4X41.2 (micr. P0-58), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. It is the type species of Echinoidites.

A. E. González-Guzmán 1967Grain probably elongated, irregular aperture. Sculpture type macroechinate. Spines about 145 μ long and at the base about 6.5 μ in diameter. Sometimes spines truncate. Thickness of exine about 2.5 μ.
