Scabrastephanocolpites vanegensis was named by Van der Hammen and Garcia de Mutis (1966). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-I-78 Col. S.G.N. (coord. 102.8X50.8), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D body fossil.
