Taxonomy
Monotrypella maorica was named by Wilckens (1927). Its type specimen is NZGS BZ152 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wilckens D, 88 Valley (N28/f), which is in an Oretian marine horizon in New Zealand.
