Taxonomy
Acrodus oreodontus was named by Wemple (1906). Its type specimen is UCMP 10251, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cottonwood Canyon, west Humboldt Range, which is in an Anisian/Ladinian marine horizon in Nevada.
