Palaeobates shastensis

Taxonomy
Strophodus shastensis was named by Bryant (1914). Its type specimen is UCMP 20041, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cow Creek, Shasta County, which is in a Carnian carbonate limestone in the Hosselkus Formation of California.

It was recombined as Asteracanthus shastensis by Jordan and Hanibal (1923); it was recombined as Palaeobates shastensis by Rieppel et al. (1996).
