Pyknotylacanthus humboldtensis
Taxonomy
Cosmacanthus humboldtensis was named by Davidson (1919). Its type specimen is UCMP 9162, an osteoderm (fin spine), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Straight Canyon, Humboldt Range, which is in an Anisian/Ladinian marine horizon in Nevada.
It was recombined as Pyknotylacanthus humboldtensis by Mutter and Rieber (2005).
