Taxonomy
Retitricolporites chubutensis was named by Archangelsky (1973). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Holotype: p.m. 1006; coord. 55/94.2. Stored at Museo de La Plata, Paleobotanical division., a microspore (Pollen grain), and it is a compression preserving soft parts. Its type locality is Puerto Visser, which is in a Danian terrestrial horizon in the Salamanca Formation of Argentina.

Archangelsky 1973Grano subprolado; colpos llegando cerca de los polos, engrosados en la región ecuatorial donde delimitan poros lalongados. Exina semitectada, perreticulada, compuesta por una capa basal y una capa externa, a veces más gruesa en el ecuador; columelas de base circular que distalmente se ensanchan y fusionan formando un retículo; tectum a veces presente. Retículo de mallas poligonales, más desarrolladas en el ecuador, en los mesocolpios, disminuyendo muy gradualmente hacia los colpos y los polos.
