Araripichthys axelrodi
Taxonomy
Araripichthys axelrodi was named by Maisey and Moody (2001). Its type specimen is P-907 MBLUZ, a partial skeleton (Individual lacking tail), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Rosarito Quarry, which is in an Aptian offshore shelf horizon in the Apon Formation of Venezuela. It is the type species of Araripichthys.
