Nothofagoxylon paraprocera was named by Ancibor (1990). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is LPPb 11748 (G2), a plant debris (wood), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

Ancibor 1990Xilema de porosidad subcircular, densidad de los poros 104/mm², poros solitarios, en series radiales cortas, en series tangenciales y en racimos, elementos vasales de 402 mm de largo-medio y 44 mm de D-medio; con placa de perforación simple, horizontal a poco inclinada; en algunos vasos pequeños de otoño, placas escalariformes de 28-36 barras. Puntuaciones intervasales areoladas generalmente alternas, con leve tendencia a opuestas, ovaladas a poligonales con abertura inclusa, parénquima axial escaso, difuso con algunos elementos disyuntos. Fibras de paredes finas, cortas: 340 mm de largo-medio y 8,7 mm de D-medio, con puntuaciones rebordeadas de abertura expandida. El sistema radial heterogéneo y radios heterocelulares, uni, bi y parcialmente biseriados de 5-15 células de alto.
