Taxonomy
Pterotoceras elegantulum was named by McLearn (1939) [Pterotoceras caurinum var. elegantulum]. Its type specimen is GSC 9413 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Dimorphotoceras elegantulum by Tozer (1994).
