Taxonomy
Daphnites stelcki was named by McLearn (1940). Its type specimen is GSC 8832 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GSC 9839, Brown Hill, which is in an Alaunian marine siliciclastic in the Pardonet Formation of Canada.

It was recombined as Hypisculites stelcki by Tozer (1994).
