Taxonomy
Nematogenys cuivi was named by Azpelicueta and Rubilar (1998). It is extant. Its type specimen is CPUC Lonq (R)/7, a skeleton. Its type locality is Cerro Rucañanco, which is in a Serravallian fluvial-lacustrine sandstone/conglomerate in the Cura-Mallin Formation of Chile.
