Taxonomy
Praegonia coombsi was named by Fleming (1962). Its type specimen is OU 3719, a valve (right valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is White Hill, northern Taringatura Hills, which is in a Ladinian marine horizon in New Zealand. It is the type species of Praegonia.
