Taxonomy
Mysidioptera riceae was named by Waterhouse (1960). Its type specimen is NZGS TM 2101, a valve (left valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GS 1431, Waiwera River (G46/f9475), which is in an Otamitan marine horizon in New Zealand.
