Eridocampylus was named by Duncan (1939) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ludl D Give-l Sepkoski's reference number: 742. Sepkoski mis-spelled the genus as "Eridocamplyus" in his Genus Compendium instead of "Eridocampylus"].
It was assigned to Heterotrypidae by Bassler (1953); and to Trepostomida by Sepkoski (2002).
