Malvacipollis argentina was named by Zamaloa and Romero (1990) [Botanical affinity: Malvaceae]. It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. Its type locality is Alfa dell, which is in an Eocene estuary/bay sandstone in the Cullen Formation of Argentina.

Zamaloa and Romero 1990Pollen grain subspherical, isopolar, amb circular, triporate. Exine tectate, equinate. Nexine ca. 1 Igm thick, up to 3.5 gm thick around the pores. Sexine about 1 gm or slightly thicker, with densely packed columellae. Spines are 2-3.5 gm long, and 1.5-2.5 gm in basal diame- ter. Spines have a convex-cylindrical base, a constriction in the middle, and pointed, occasionally curved, tips. Pores circular, non-aspidate. Equatorial diameter exclusive of spines 30-42 jm (12 specimens measured).
