Malvaciphyllum quenquiadensis was named by Anzótegui and Cristalli (2000) [Botanical affinity: Abutilon grandiflorum, A. pauciflorum, A. umbelliflorum, A. herzogianum, A. fuscicalyx, Bastardiopsis densiflora, Pavonia subrotunda.
Hábito y distribución de la especie actual afín: Myrcianthes cisplatensis (Camb.) Berg., árbol nativo de la región neotropical (Rotman, 1979). En Argentina habita bosques y selvas en el norte del país tanto en el este como en el oeste. (Anzótegui, 2004).
Hábito y distribución de las especies actuales afines: Abutilon grandiflorum (Willd.) Sweet y A. pauciflorum St.-Hil. son arbustos, de amplia distribución en el centro y norte de Argentina; la primera crece en suelos modificados y la segunda en talares próximas a ríos y en las sierras (Krapovickas, 1966).]. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is CTES-PB 10046 a and b, a leaf, and it is a compression preserving soft parts. It is the type species of Malvaciphyllum.

Margin lobed to entire; when lobed, in the exmedial area (1/3 from the apex) a notch comprising rounded lobes and sinus is hinted. Margin toothed to crenate. Tooth types malvoid. Petiole normal. Venation actinodromous, basal marginal with 5-7 primary veins, homogeneus. Primary veins straight to slightly curved, ending at a marginal sinus or tooth. The first pair of primary veins, homogeneus. Primary venis straight to slightly curved, ending at a marginal sinus or tooth. The first pair of primary veins emerges with a narrow acute angle, second pair of primary veins emerges with wide acute angle and the third one with right to obtuse angles. The secondary veins emerging with narrow to moderately acute angles, poorly branched and also ending in a tooth or sinus. Tertiary veins are per current. Quaternary veins very thin at right. Areoles quadrangular to pentagonal. |
