Taxonomy
Dacryomya tarua was named by Skwarko (1973). Its type specimen is CPC 7749, a valve (right valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Ab45, Yuat River, which is in a Carnian marine shale in the Yuat Formation of Papua New Guinea.
