Taxonomy
Echitricolporites spinosus was named by Van der Hammen (1956) [Botanical affinity: Asteraceae (Germeraad et al., 1968)]. It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.

It was recombined as Tubulifloridites spinosus by Muller (1968) and Mautino and Anzótegui (2002).
