Taxonomy
Icanodus was named by Miller (1892) [Sepkoski's age data: teeth]. It is not extant. Its type is Tomodus convexus.

It was assigned to Cochliodontidae by Hay (1902) and Jordan (1963); and to Holocephali by Sepkoski (2002).
