Taxonomy
Schizogonium ampezzanum was named by Bandel (1991). Its type specimen is NHMW 1990/626 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Misurina near Cortina d'Ampezzo (NHMW coll), which is in a Julian carbonate limestone in the Cassian Formation of Italy.
