Taxonomy
Schizogonium tamarinum was named by Bandel (1991). Its type specimen is NHMW 1990/628 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tamarin near Cortina d'Ampezzo, which is in a Julian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone/marl in the Cassian Formation of Italy.
