Neoeridocampylus was named by Kiseleva (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1241]. Its type is Neoeridocampylus rarus.

It was assigned to Eridotrypellidae by Kiseleva (1976) and Kiseleva (1982); and to Trepostomida by Sepkoski (2002).
