Taxonomy
Pleurotomaria waimumu was named by Begg and Grant-Mackie (2003). Its type specimen is NZGS TM 6653 and is a mold. Its type locality is GS 7276, Waimumu Stream (F45/f8636), which is in a Ladinian marine horizon in New Zealand.
