Taxonomy
Murihikua tuhawaiki was named by Begg and Grant-Mackie (2003). Its type specimen is OU 16439 and is a mold. Its type locality is JGB 1367, Beaumont Station Quarry (D45/f7906), which is in an Anisian marine horizon in New Zealand. It is the type species of Murihikua.
