Taxonomy
Steneosaurus baroni was named by Newton (1893). It is not extant. Its type locality is Andranosamonta Village, which is in an Oxfordian marine horizon in the Oolite Formation of Madagascar.

It was recombined as Andrianavoay baroni by Johnson et al. (2020).
