Taxonomy
Trionyx (Aspideretes) fuchienensis was named by Yeh (1974). Its type specimen is IVPP V4708, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Trionyx (Aspideretes) fuchienensis type site, 'Fuchien Province', which is in a Cretaceous terrestrial horizon in China.

It was recombined as Aspideretes fuchienensis by Yeh (1974) and Yeh (1994); it was recombined as Sinamyda fuchienensis by Chkhikvadze (2000); it was misspelled as Aspideretes fuchiensis by Brinkman et al. (2008); it was synonymized subjectively with Trionyx fuchienensis by Georgalis and Joyce (2017).
