Heckerochelys romani

Taxonomy
Heckerochelys romani was named by Sukhanov (2006). Its type specimen is PIN 4561-1, a partial skeleton (incomplete shell (anterior third of the carapace including neurals 2-3, left costals 1-2, right costal 1, left peripherals 1-7 and the anterior two thirds of th), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Peski, Kolomna, which is in a Bathonian karst claystone/sandstone in the Moskovoretskaya Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Heckerochelys.
