Protochelydra zangerli

Taxonomy
Protochelydra zangerli was named by Erickson (1973). Its type specimen is SMM P72.34.20, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wannagan Creek Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian mire/swamp shale/shale in the Bullion Creek Formation of North Dakota. It is the type species of Protochelydra.
