Taxonomy
Spirifer uncinatus was named by Schafhautl (1851).

It was recombined as Spiriferina uncinata by Zugmayer (1882); it was recombined as Zugmayerella uncinata by Pearson (1977), Sandy and Stanley (1993) and Siblik (1998).
