It was assigned to Hyaenodontinae by Van Valen (1967); to Proviverrinae by Peigné et al. (2007), Solé (2013) and Solé et al. (2014); and to Hyaenodontidae by McKenna and Bell (1997) and Solé and Mennecart (2019).
