Taxonomy
Sigmala sigmala was named by Fraser (1986). Its type specimen is AUP 11083, a maxilla, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cromhall Quarry general, which is in a Carnian fissure fill limestone/mudstone in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Sigmala.
