Taxonomy
Hemizygopteron was named by Zalessky (1955). Its type is Hemizygopteron uralense. It is the type genus of Hemizygopteridae.

It was synonymized subjectively with Ditaxineurella by Rohdendorf (1962) and Carpenter (1992).

It was assigned to Hemizygopteridae by Zalessky (1955) and Huguet et al. (2002).

A. Huguet et al. 2002Only one row of cells in the cubito-anal area between CuAand the posterior wing margin (unique state of character within the Protanisoptera). Apparently, the bent of RP1 below the pterostigma is weak.
