Phoberomys pattersoni was named by Bondesio and Bocquentin Villanueva (1988) [The holotype is the same described by Mones (1980) for Dabbenea pattersoni (provisory number 12-72V-MCZ)]. It is not extant.

Synonyms
  • Dabbenea pattersoni was named by Mones (1980) [Author note: the Holotype number (12-72V-MCZ) is a provisory number.]. Its type specimen is 12-72V-MCZ, a tooth (M3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is El Mamon 2, which is in a Miocene fluvial-deltaic claystone/sandstone in the Urumaco Formation of Venezuela.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Phoberomys pattersoni by Bondesio and Bocquentin Villanueva (1988).

Talla menor que Phoberomys burmeisteri Kraglievich, 1926 y mayor que la de Neoepiblema horridula Ameghino, 1886.
