Coscinella was named by Hall and Simpson (1887) [Sepkoski's age data: D Give]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Cryptostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Stictoporellidae by Bassler (1953) and Jiménez-Sánchez et al. (2010).
