Taxonomy
Mesosciophilodes similis was named by Rohdendorf (1964). Its type specimen is PIN 1/167, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 167), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.
