Taxonomy
Oryctochlus placidus was named by Kalugina (1993). Its type specimen is PIN 4072/9, a nymph (pupa), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Olovskoye depression, well 586, 789 m depth (PIN collection 4072), which is in a Hauterivian terrestrial horizon in the Ukurei Formation of the Russian Federation.
