Orthopora was named by Hall (1886) [Sepkoski's age data: O Ashg-m C Tour Sepkoski's reference number: 742,905]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Cryptostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rhabdomesidae by Bassler (1953) and Ernst et al. (2008).
