Taxonomy
Coronaria rugosa was named by Böhm (1895). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Marmolata (Salomon coll), which is in a Ladinian carbonate limestone in the Marmolata Formation of Italy.

It was recombined as Purpuroidea rugosa by Kittl (1899).
