Sulcavis geeorum
Taxonomy
Sulcavis geeorum was named by O'Connor et al. (2013). Its type specimen is BMNH Ph-000805 (Beijing Museum of Natural History), a skeleton (a slab containing a nearly complete adult or subadult individual, generally preserved in ventral view, with poorly preserved feathers around the skull and shoul), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lamadong, Jianchang, which is in an Aptian lacustrine sandstone/mudstone in the Jiufotang Formation of China. It is the type species of Sulcavis.
