Taxonomy
Coleia martinlutheri was named by Schweigert and Ernst (2012). Its type specimen is University of Greifswald GG 377/1, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Eisenach, 1979 temporary exposure, which is in a Semicostatum marine claystone in Germany.
