Palaeopoecilostola eocenica was named by Kania and Krzemiński (2012). Its type specimen is MEPAS 19931, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber (Museum Ziemi collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.
