Taxonomy
Paleoeuglossa melissiflora was named by Poinar (1998). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Work amber collection, Ashland), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.

It was recombined as Eufriesea melissiflora by Engel et al. (2012).
